Educational Leadership Program
If you are ready to take your career to the next level, Carroll’s Master of Science in Educational Leadership will get you there. In this innovative program, you’ll receive targeted project-based and performance-based learning opportunities that will equip you with the skills, knowledge and experiences needed to shape tomorrow’s academic landscape. Students will learn educational leadership theory and research, instructional leadership, continuous improvement, curriculum development, educational law and resource allocation and budgeting. You will practice the latest strategies for developing schools of excellence, equity and inclusivity
The Educational Leadership program is designed to create a learning community. Students will meet with their peers one weekend (Saturday and Sunday) each month in person over a 20-month period. This approach provides you with the time to examine current, relevant issues deeply and collaboratively in a community of learners. Each cohort is co-facilitated by two instructors who follow the program through its entirety.
Course Prerequisites
- Three years of successful teaching experience.
- Valid Wisconsin teacher license.
- Licensure only program: master's degree in education.
Total Credits
- License only (principal + director of Instruction): 24 credits
- M.S. Degree = 30 credits

License Information
Students in the Educational Leadership Program will earn their Principal and Director of Instruction Licenses. The DSEPS license is optional.
License #5051 Principal: Required for school administrative positions: principals, assistant principals and other positions, depending on district job requirements (e.g., deans, coordinators, etc.)
License #5010 Director of Instruction: Required for district administrative positions, depending on district job requirements (e.g., directors, coordinators, etc.)
License #5080 Director of Special Education & Pupil Services (DSEPS): Required for district special education administrative positions. Positions may include directors, etc.
